Medical School

Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) Degree, 1999
The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This four-year course of study consisted of over 4,200 hours of classroom and hands-on clinical experience. The curriculum includes the same basic sciences as conventional medical schools, but also covers holistic and nontoxic approaches to therapy with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and optimizing wellness.

1st Year:

The first year is very similar to conventional medical school, with the study of the basic medical sciences such as anatomy, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology and physiology.

2nd & 3rd Years:

The second and third years continue with the study of medical science, and add the scientific study of natural treatments in nutrition, botanical (herbal) medicine and homeopathy.

4th Year:

The last full year is spent seeing patients in the clinic, supervised by licensed Naturopathic Doctors (N.D.s), while continuing with in-depth classroom studies.

Career History

1999-2000:

Private practice in Wilmington, NC.

2000-2001:

Worked as a consulting staff physician and lecturer for Great Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory (now Genova Diagnostics) in Asheville, NC. I advised MDs and NDs on the proper use and interpretation of diagnostic tests, as well as appropriate natural treatment based on test results.

2003:

Published a chapter on Urinary Tract Infections as a contributing writer in The Anti-Pain Plan.

2001-Present:

Private practice in my hometown of Charlotte, NC.
